Swami Vivekananda’s Philosophy of education
According to Swami Vivekananda - “All the power is within you, you can do anything and everything. believe in that, don’t believe that you are weak. Stand –up and express the divinity within you.”
Being an educator I too follow these words which give us courage as well as an insight to our capability. While following these words we could know that knowledge is being embedded in every human being. An educators job is to just unveil the learners knowledge which is being enfolded by them.
As an educator we should also make aware the learners that they are too stronger than anyone. They require only a support, guidance and supervision to achieve their mission.
Learners can also be taught about the divinity which is confined in them. Divinity means godliness, so inside every human being there lives a god which will help us to discover our path.
A learner might be confused of choosing mission as they have various choices in front of them. But there as a guide or motivator an educator may help him to understand his own ability and choose the right mission for him.
Swami Vivekananda led stress on character development. He developed the spirit of fellow feeling. He insisted that the educator should be sinless, should have knowledge of spirit of scriptures, love for students and should think they are just helping the child to grow.
According to Swami Vivekananda "religion is the innermost core of education". He also pointed out that "Truth is power and untruth is weakness. Knowledge is truth, ignorance is untruth". In the point of view of Vivekananda ethics and religion are one and the same. God is always on the side of goodness.
